Jordan Area WIB January Luncheon

Today's JAWIB lunch was a meet and mingle that allowed its members and the board to get to know each other a little better. The luncheon was at Crane House Museum in Riverton Utah.

The house is absolutely gorgeous and our host Kathy was a delight to dine with as she told us of  the history of the house and how it came to be in its current location.

To kick off our luncheon we played the game "How well do you know your board members", the game was headed by our fearless JAWIB Chair Camille Crump.  The game was fun as it included a slip of paper at your place setting with fun facts about the board members and you had to guess which information went with which board member.

If you have never been to the Crane House Museum be sure to make plans to stop buy or host an event there, Kathy is a great host and they have their own chef on staff. Vist Crane House Museum

Women Business Owners - Email Etiquette

Along with texting and websites, email is one of the most common ways many people communicate now days so, I wanted to share some tips to help others keep from inadvertently adding the email address of their friends and colleagues to a spammers list.

Yesterday I received an email that had been sent out to 1500 contacts with everyone’s name displayed on the email.  I have no idea what the contents of this email were as I got tired of scrolling through all the names to get to the body of the email.  When sending out an email to more than one person the sender should send out each recipients name as Bcc (which stands for blind copy).  This does a couple of things, it keeps the receiver from having to scroll through tons of names to get to the body of your email and two it prevents the list of emails addresses sent in your message from being harvested for spam.

My last comment probably provided you with an Aha moment.  If an email is being sent with all those names over and over again, it’s bound to hit a computer owned by someone who either is not aware they have mal or spyware or they do not maintain their system.  Malware and spyware on the computer of those who forget to BCC out their emails is one of the many ways your email address can be harvested from someone else’s computer.

Dr. Teran Warner of Copperwell Chiropractic says "Become Healthier"

Industry Experts

Become Healthier

Hello 2012! With a turning of a new year means 'new year resolutions', or the same ones we have yet to accomplish. We all know quickly our time is taken by 'other things' during daily life BUT We Must Take a Stand This Year! 2012 is OUR YEAR! This is the year of action, get up and move! A few of the top resolutions across the nation consist of spending more time with family, getting in better shape, decreasing debt, or cutting the waist line by losing weight. Do any of these sound familiar to you?

These most popular resolutions can be addressed under the "become healthier" category in mind, body and spirit.

With the idea of becoming healthier I want to remind people to take small steps. No one can drop 2 sizes in a day nor run a marathon the week after starting a brand new running program. However if people knew of the FUN and IMPORTANT facts about weight loss then they may gain some increased motivation to keep going. Here is one for you to think about...For every pound a person drops it automatically takes 4 pounds of pressure off the knee joints!! (Anyone with sore knees at the end of the day will appreciate that factoid!)

Here are some helpful tips to help you start the new year off right and become healthier.
  1. Supplements are a must in todays world. The top 5 are a good multi-vitamin, Vitamin D, Omega-3 (fish oils), Magnesium, and a probiotic. These along with a healthy diet will support overall health as well as help promote weight loss along with an anti-inflammatory diet.
  2. Eat as many vegetables as you can and substitute the rest of your diet with fresh fruits and lean meats. Stay away from processed foods and as many grains or gluten as possible. Shop "outside aisles" in the grocery store, think of it as a track around a football field...Stay on the Track and out of the middle!
  3. Try and do some sort of cardio and strength training 3-5 times per week. This can be as little as brisk walking 30 minutes a day and doing strength training with objects at the house such as soup cans, animals, or children :)
  4. Visit your local chiropractor and massage therapist who has training in nutrition, fitness, and wellness to help you on your journey to health.

Feel free to visit www.copperwellchiropractic.com and look at the blog page for more detailed information on the steps you can take to become healthier in 2012 we will be adding health tips starting January 1st.

We welcome Dr. Warner as part of the 2012 Jordan Area Women in Business board.
